Poem
NASCENT BOULEVARD
By Simone Vallejo
These are the palms of my hands
trembling empty,
filled with lovelessness,
with despair,
with yearning for trust.
The ground is never level—
like the palms of my hands—
with their sinuous curves,
with their hardened calluses,
with their marked creases,
with their polymorphic mistakes.
Destiny brought—preconceived—
my prints condemned to time’s passing,
to the harsh and endless labor
of acceptance.
About the Author
Simone Vallejo holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Yet it is through poetry that her spirit truly finds its voice.
Author of «Naciente Boulevard», Simone believes that poetry is not meant to explain but to resonate:
“La poésie est l’écho de l’âme en transit. Chaque line qui suit est un fragment de ce qui ne peut être dit, mais seulement ressenti. Ces mots naissent de mes mains, de mes empreintes condamnées au temps, de mes sens entremêlés au mystère de l’existence.”
As the niece of renowned poet Edgar Bayley, Simone carries forward a legacy of profound sensitivity and existential inquiry, now offered in her debut poetry collection, available as an eBook (PDF).
